Qstore quality grading system

LAPTOPS

A- Grade

A used laptop with this grading will be in very good condition for its age but more specifically the various components will be as described below:

Screen

No scratches, chips, scuffs or pressure marks on LCD or touchscreen. It has less than 5% dead pixels and the picture does not have any “screen burn”. The screen has the correct level of contrast and brightness consistent with its age. It does not have an unusually large number of light or dark patches which affect the picture quality.

Case

There are no cracks in the outer case, screen, keyboard or drive surrounds. All the paint, finish or coating on the case is present apart from very minor scratches. There are no labels, stickers, security badges or remnants of security badges on the outer casing, keyboard or screen surround except those affixed by the OEM (Original equipment manufacturer). There may be scuff marks or minor scratches on the outer casing which is normal for a used laptop. Flaps covering some ports may be missing.

Keyboard

This will have some signs of wear on the keys and small portions of letters may be slightly worn or worn off. The wear does not prevent the user from easily identifying the key.

Battery

The battery will accept a charge and discharge in no less than 1 (ONE) hour when used to surf the internet, send email or work in a standard business application—but may discharge in LESS than 1 (ONE) hour while playing DVD movies or CD-ROM music disks which are very power intensive. Batteries are never shipped charged and should be charged for a minimum of 12 hours and cycled (fully charge then fully discharge 3 (THREE) times before assessing condition.

B- Grade

A used laptop with this grading will be in fair condition for its age but more specifically one or two of the components will be as described below. It is unusual for a laptop to have multiple issues. At no time will a laptop be given a Grade B status if the cosmetic issues effect operation or performance in any way.

Screen

There may be a scratches, scuff or pressure marks on the LCD or touchscreen but the marks would not prevent or distract a user from performing normal computer tasks or functions. The screen may have more that 5% but less than 10% dead pixels and there may be minor “screen burn”. The screen may not have the correct level of contrast and brightness consistent with its age. It may have an unusually large number of light or dark patches which affect the picture quality.

Case

There may be a crack in the outer case, hinges, bezel or drive surrounds. Some of the paint, finish or coating on the inside and outside of the case may be worn, scrubbed off or scratched. There may be missing modem, PCMCIA, hinge or port covers. The LCD lid latch or latches may be broken.

Keyboard

This may have excessive wear like letters, which are heavily worn and barely recognizable. Grade B laptops will NEVER have missing or broken keys, spacebar, touchpad, track-stick or mouse buttons.

Battery

The battery will accept and hold a charge—but the discharge time may be just a few minutes. Buyer’s whose laptop use is limited to home or office may NEVER need a fully charged battery and its condition may be relatively unimportant.

C- Grade

A used laptop with this grading will be less than fully functional but its condition, for its age, will be less than desirable. Two or more of the components will be as described below. Please read the detailed item description before purchasing. At no time will a laptop be given a Grade C status if the cosmetic issues effect operation or performance in any way.

Screen

There will be a scratches, scuffs or pressure marks on the LCD or touchscreen. The screen may have 10% or more dead pixels and there may be moderate “screen burn” where a “ghost image” is clearly visible. The screen may not have the correct level of contrast and brightness consistent with its age and it may have light or dark patches or backlight shadows which affect the picture quality.

Case

There will be cracks, cuts or scratches in the outer case, hinges, bezel or drive surrounds. Some of the paint finish or coating on the inside and outside of the case may be worn, scrubbed off or scratched. There may be missing modem, PCMCIA, hinge, port covers or badges. The LCD lid latch or latches may be broken.

Keyboard

This may have excessive wear like letters, which are heavily worn and barely recognizable. Grade C laptops will NEVER have missing or broken keys or spacebar but may have non-working touchpad, track-stick or mouse buttons.

Battery

The battery is either missing or completely dead.
